32 Shootings in 2015With four shootings on college campuses in October 2015, the number of US school shootings in 2015 has risen to 32, with 30 people killed and 53 others injured. Others have this list higher using different criteria, adding suicides. This list includes 32 school shootings in 2015 in which someone was injured or killed on school property or on a school buses. Although, until the mass shooting at Umpqua Community College, none of the deaths listed in 2015 were the results of someone opening firing in a classroom, cafeteria or dormitory.  Why are we seeing a increase in violence?

We are seeing this trend move toward college campuses in which 14 students, three professors, and a university staff member have all died at the hands of gunmen.  RA Training

UCC ShootingsThere were four shootings on University campuses shooting earlier this month.

October 2015 – Gunfire broke-out on four times on Universities;

  • Texas Southern University campuses (#32 & #30),
  • Northern Arizona University (#31) and
  • Umpqua Community College (29#)

Two of the shootings could have ended up much worse had the shooter not quickly been tackled by others; in one – a principal was wounded, and another only two shots the student fired hit the ceiling.

All occurred on campuses except one which was on a school bus. Although only one on the list below was a mass casualty shooting and it occurred in a classroom or other campus building. That one was at Umpqua Community College (UCC) in Roseburg, Oregon on October 1, 2015. In the UCC incident, 10 people (including the shooter) died and nine others were injured. It is the worst of all the school shootings in 2015.

Why didn’t we see it coming??
